Our History
An excellent solution to the growing employment gap
In 2012, Vet2Tech Founder George Nicholson, set out to help the skilled trade industry find a solution to a growing technician shortage. An aging workforce and diminishing interest in skilled trades led to a nationwide critical deficiency.
As an F-15 Crew Chief in the United States Air Force, George understood first-hand the solid technical skills and experience gained in the military. Knowing that approximately 40% of all active-duty service members are trained in mechanical, technical or engineering specialties makes ex-military personnel an excellent solution to the growing employment gap.
With the unemployment rate for our youngest Military Veterans well over 30% at that time, the enormous potential for well-trained Veterans entering the workforce was an attainable solution to the technician shortage.
With more than 200,000 active-duty service members transitioning into the civilian workforce every year and 40% being highly trained and experienced in mechanical, technical and engineering specialties, it made sense to connect these younger Veterans to technician positions.
It wasn’t long before manufacturers heard about Vet2Tech and sought our assistance in recruiting Military Veteran talent across a spectrum of manufacturing careers.
